Governance for Change and School Governors’ One-Stop Shop

The Teach First Ambassador Governance for Change initiative has partnered with the School Governors’ One-Stop Shop to encourage more ambassadors to volunteer as school governors in an effort to ensure that all schools have well-equipped, effective, innovative governing bodies.

Microsite image As an ambassador, you are uniquely placed to offer valuable skills and insight to governing bodies due to your first-hand knowledge or the challenges schools face, your passion for improving educational opportunities for all pupils, and perhaps, your experience in another sector.

Schools governors are the most important voluntary workers in education, but there can still be as many as 40,000 vacant places across England at any one time.

Furthermore, Ofsted finds the quality of governance is found to decline as the proportion of students receiving Free School Meals rises, making Teach First partner schools particularly in need of committed governors.

This site has been created to allow Teach First schools to notify SGOSS of vacancies, and allow ambassadors to apply to fill vacancies.
