Employers
School governance offers a unique educational volunteering opportunity to employers and their staff. Not only are volunteers in a position to have a positive impact on the lives of children throughout a school, but as volunteers they themselves can gain first hand experience in the critical business disciplines of finance, HR, strategic planning, team working and project management – experience they can then bring back into their working environment.
One of the major added values available to employers through the School Governors’ One-Stop Shop is the hassle free volunteer brokerage service it provides, eliminating the need for separate, resource intensive, in-company processes. From agreeing the format, date and advertising of a recruitment event; through the face to face discussions with potential volunteers; through liaising with volunteers until they have found a suitable vacancy; to providing on-going feedback to employers on volunteer progress, the One-Stop Shop is there to help, and all its services are FREE.
By encouraging staff to volunteer and supporting them in their role as governors, an employer has the opportunity to gain significant benefits which include:
- Employee development & motivation
- Staff recruitment & retention
- Strong links with the community
- A more informed & aware work force
- Improved customer relations
- Positive PR
