Langley Primary School, Durham
During the recent 'Chair of Governors handover' my predecessor spoke of the excellent service given to us by SGOSS in finding potential new governors; our Governing Body has been 'fully manned' for many years with a large number of Associate Governors still taking an active interest in the work carried out by the Governing Body.
I am myself an SGOSS recruit; having read information at an 'SGOSS' stand set up at my office, I went back a little time later for an informative chat about the role of a school governor. Having completed a very small amount of paperwork I was surprised to receive an email from SGOSS inviting me to meet with the Chair of Governors and Headteacher of Langley Primary within a week; the whole process was managed in a timely, professional and efficient manner.
As the newly appointed 'Chair of Governors' one of my first tasks was to recruit for the vacancy of community governor left by the outgoing Chair. Again SGOSS provided a brilliant service and a first-rate volunteer in a very short timescale, who was appointed by our full board on 10th September 2008.We have established a very good working relationship with SGOSS and I wouldn't hesitate in contacting them again should further vacancies become available in the future.
